Established by the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador through license agreement 00171 on March 13, 1997. We provide eye care and treatment for preventable blindness, and our primary clinic is located in Yaruquí – a parish 22 miles East from the capital city of Quito. Our institution also has a satellite project in the province of Esmeraldas. Our work mission is based on providing access to high quality eyecare to those who need it the most, benefitting the community and contributing to the medical and technological development of ophthalmology.
We are part of “Vision 2020: The Right to Sight”, a program established by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and the World Health Organization (WHO) that includes the Pan-American Health Organization, the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology, and the respective national associations of ophthalmology in the joint goal of eliminating preventable blindness.
